Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disease affecting approximately 1 in 6000 babies born.

SMA EUROPE was founded in 2006 by a group of seven european SMA associations : the AFM (France), ASEM Catalunya (Spain), DGM (Germany), Famiglie SMA (Italy), JTSMA (UK), the SMA Trust (UK) and VSN (The Netherlands).
